Scott Rafkin

President

Volvo Financial Services

Scott is a Volvo Group EVP and a member of Group Management as well as President of Volvo Financial Services (VFS). With over 20 years of experience in the commercial transport and financial services industries, Scott has led businesses and organizations across the globe. Scott has been with the Volvo Group and Volvo Financial Services since 2001, and he is passionate about driving change to improve the customer experience and business performance through business transformation. Scott is a values-based leader, and a believer that diverse organizations are more innovative. He is devoted to developing people and giving back to the community.

Scott oversees a gross credit portfolio of SEK 144 billion, employs over 1,400 people worldwide, and is responsible for providing a comprehensive range of financial services to dealers and customers in 48 countries for the following brands: Volvo Trucks, Volvo Construction Equipment, Volvo Buses, UD Trucks, Terex Trucks, SDLG Construction Equipment, Prevost, Renault Trucks, Nova Bus, Mack Trucks, and Eicher Trucks and Buses.

Previously Scott has held numerous senior positions in VFS including global Chief Financial Officer, SVP of Operations & Information Technology, and SVP of Risk. Additionally, Scott has lived and worked in New Jersey, Brussels and Greensboro for the Volvo Group.  Scott has a Bachelors of Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Gary McCartney

Chief Financial Officer

Volvo Financial Services

Gary is Chief Financial Officer for VFS, responsible for providing senior financial and business leadership for VFS globally. His areas of responsibility include Accounting and Financial Reporting, Planning and Analysis, Capital Markets, Tax Compliance and Planning and Digital Solutions and IT. Gary’s primary focus is to help drive VFS global operations toward the achievement of strategic and financial objectives, while maximizing long-term shareholder value and maintaining high levels of integrity and transparency.

Gary has over 20 years of financial services experience within the captive finance company lending business, with 18 years at VFS. During that time, Gary was also Chief Financial Officer for Region Americas, and President of VFS Canada. Gary is a CPA and started his career in public practice working for Arthur Andersen LLP. He holds a Bachelors of Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University in Canada. Gary is a member of the VFS Global Executive Management Team.

Marcio Pedroso

President, Region Americas

Volvo Financial Services

Marcio is President of VFS Region Americas, responsible for leading our businesses and executing on strategies to achieve our objectives in North and South America, including Brazil, Chile, Canada, Mexico, the USA, and other Latin American markets. With over 25 years of financial services experience, Marcio is a highly-respected cross cultural senior executive with an extensive knowledge of Latin America markets. During his time with the Volvo Group, Marcio has managed multiple business units, led market feasibility studies, and participated in numerous business development initiatives across our Regions. Strong commercial experience, a focus on operational results, and leading teams that deliver high levels of customer satisfaction are some of his top core competencies.                        

Prior to the Volvo Group, Marcio held various senior leadership positions in corporate finance and financial services, including as partner in a Brazilian-based insurance broker company. Marcio holds an BsC degree  in Computer Science from Parana Catholic University and an MBA degree from the University of São Paulo (FIA), both in Brazil. Marcio is a member of the VFS Global Executive Management Team.

Nils Jaeger

President, Region EMEA

Volvo Financial Services

Nils is President of VFS Region EMEA, responsible for leading over 30 markets through the development and execution of tailored local strategies to achieve our business objectives. With over 21 years’ experience, Nils holds extensive knowledge of the EMEA markets and the commercial transport and financial services industries.  

During his time with VFS, Nils has lifted the operational performance of VFS EMEA to world class levels, while reaching new heights of customer and dealer satisfaction – and bringing innovation and digital processing to the VFS EMEA markets. Previously Nils was with John Deere & Company for 17 years, where he held various senior leadership roles in both the equipment and financial services organizations, including responsibility for the growth of Deere Financial Services and the global trade finance business in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.   

Nils is a former Chairman of the European Captives Forum, as well as a member of the forum’s Executive Board. Nils holds a Masters from the University of Bayreuth, Germany, specialized in Finance and Marketing.  He is a member of the VFS Global Executive Management Team.

John Rakocy

President, Region Asia Pacific

John is President of VFS Region APAC, a position he has held since May 2009. Based in Singapore, John is responsible for leading our businesses and executing on strategies to achieve our business objectives in the Asia-Pacific region, including China, North East Asia, South East Asia, South Asia and Oceania. His experience spans over 30 years in a variety of industries including the equipment, automotive, technology and insurance segments. Having worked and lived outside of the USA for more than 20 years, including 7 expatriate assignments, John has a deep understanding of complex global business issues which has enabled him to build successful organizations in both developing and developed markets.

Pat Shannon

Chief Credit Officer

Volvo Financial Services

Patrick is Chief Credit Officer for VFS. He is responsible for leading the credit underwriting and risk management activities of the global VFS portfolio. With over 30 years of financial services experience in the commercial transport industry, and over 23 years with VFS, Patrick has worked in various regional and global senior roles in VFS, including Finance, Sales, Operations, Strategy, Risk and Compliance. Patrick has also worked for Volvo Construction Equipment for several years, where he held the role of Chief Financial Officer for Volvo Construction Equipment in the Americas. Through insights from this wide range of perspectives, Patrick provides strong knowledge and support for the Volvo Group and VFS.

Patrick has a Bachelors of Business Administration from St. John’s University in Minnesota, and a Master of Business Administration from Wake Forest University in North Carolina. He is a member of the VFS Global Executive Management Team.

Alexia Maas

Senior Vice President and General Counsel

Volvo Financial Services

Alexia is SVP and General Counsel for VFS. She is responsible for a team of 48, comprised of lawyers, paralegals and compliance officers in 15 countries who provide legal and compliance services to VFS operations worldwide. Alexia’s team is considered a trusted adviser and strategic business partner within the organization, with a strong focus on execution and solving problems in a clear and concise way. Alexia strives for the team to remain agile and respond to business needs with speed, while remaining grounded with respect to principles and compliance.

Alexia is a dual qualified lawyer (UK & USA) whose career spans nearly 25 years. She previously worked for 16 years in private practice, then moved in-house – first in the offshore sector, then in VFS Region EMEA. Alexia has been with VFS global headquarters since 2014. She is a member of the VFS Global Executive Management Team.

Adrian Samareanu

Chief Digital & Information Officer

Volvo Financial Services

Adrian is the Chief Digital & Information Officer at VFS, responsible for digital solutions and information technology – a global function in VFS.  Adrian strives to improve business performance and drives the digital agenda for our organization, resulting in customer value opportunities and sustainable profitability.

Adrian served several global companies over the last 20 years when it comes to driving change to improve the business performance and customer experience within telecommunications, management consulting, consumer goods and financial services. His previous roles have included Chief Operating Officer and Global Chief Information Officer.  

Upon joining VFS in 2009, Adrian and his team have reshaped customer finance core business processes and common global systems, improving stability and control during a down business cycle. More recently, the team has built a sustainable competitive advantage through the upcycle, positioning the company to deliver more customer value.

Adrian studied Disruptive Strategies and Innovation at Harvard Business School and has a Master degree in Business and Computer Science from the University Politechnica of Bucharest.

Allen Atchley

Vice President, Strategy & Innovation

Volvo Financial Services

Allen is the Vice President of Strategy for VFS and Head of the VFS Innovation Lab.  He is responsible for company-level strategy that aims to formulate, facilitate and communicate VFS plans for the future.  Allen also ensures that the VFS strategy is aligned with strategic initiatives across the Volvo Group. In his capacity as Head of the VFS Innovation Lab, Allen is charged with the identification of emerging and disruptive trends and the VFS strategic response through internal development and the creation of strategic partnerships.

Prior to joining Volvo Group, Allen held positions in executive management, business development, risk and finance with Capmark Finance and GE Capital, and has lived and worked in multiple countries in Europe and Asia.

Allen holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration from Wake Forest University in North Carolina.
